ETIOLOGY. When blood circulation is impaired, it can coagulate and congeal resulting in blood stagnation. Causes include traumatic injury, blood deficiency, qi deficiency or damp phlegm accumulation.
SYMPTOMS. Intense fixed piercing stabbing pain, accumulation and lumps that are immobile and hard to the touch. Dark facial complexion, dry scaly itchy skin, tortuous purplish veins, hematomas, yellowish brown or grey blue maculae (liver or age spots), purple lips and nails. Heart pain and or chest tightness and congestion, irregular menstruation with dark purple flow with clots. Excess vaginal bleeding and pain before menses.
CONDITIONS. Dysmenorrhea, abscesses, cysts, ulcers, abdominal masses, tumors, traumatic injuries, cardiovascular disorders, intestinal obstructions. Strokes, blood clots.
