ETIOLOGY. In Chinese Medicine the Yang energy of the body is responsible for warming and energizing the body, it is responsible for all major functional aspects of the body. The key Yang energy arises from the Kidneys. Kidney Yang energy tends to wean with age and can further be depleted with chronic illness, insufficient natural endowment, excessive sexual activity at young age, use of recreational drugs, poor nutrition, and excessive physical and emotional strain.
SYMPTOMS. Low back and knee soreness, pain and weakness is a predominant symptom as well as aversion to cold, cold extremities, sensation of cold in low back and genitals, frequent or inhibited urination, diarrhea before dawn, loose sloppy stools, impotence and erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, infertility, edema that is severe in lower parts of the body. Asthma, shortness of breath, difficulty inhaling completely, coughing, or panting, palpitations, perspiration on forehead, tinnitus, lack of willpower or direction, mental lethargy, poor spirit, apathy, fatigue, poor appetite, pale complexion, hair loss. In females menstruation is irregular and there may be vaginal discharge that is clear and profuse.
CONDITIONS. Bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic allergies, vitiligo, psoriasis, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, urinary incontinence, headaches, enuresis, hypothyroidism, depression, prostate disorders, sexual dysfunction, premenstrual syndromes (PMS) chronic nephritis.
